I travel a lot and have seen a lot of different parts of the country. I have met more people than I can count. I have talked to more people than you can ever imagine and in all walks of life. From the homeless man I bought lunch for to the filthy rich living in mansions, in all of these people there lies a common thread.
The common thread I, myself, have found is that we are all on a mission. Some of us may not know ours, be able to describe it, or even understand the search, but we are all searching for something. Sometimes we define it as "looking for happiness," but the root of it all comes back to love.
Love is a scary and confusing thing. In our society we often miss the mark on what love is. It's become just a physical thing that is given away in the context of sex and pleasure. But love is an emotion, a feeling, a caring that runs deeper than a physical touch. It's the selfless action of being there for friend in the middle of night when they are breaking down, buying the homeless man on the corner a cheeseburger, holding a door for someone at the store, standing up for someone when it's unpopular or uncool, or even smiling at the person behind the counter.
The ultimate power we have to change our world is love. Love can change things, true, unfailing, unselfish, love. Our story is not over, we can change the world through love. What will you do to make a difference in the world you are in? How will you reach out and change the world with a random act of love and kindness today?
