As I'm writing this, I'm currently in wonderful Sparks, Oklahoma for my second week of camp. It's incredibly hot here and there are twice as many students here than there was two weeks ago when I came with my students.
I'm exhausted. And our team had zero unity going into this afternoons activities. Too many leaders and not enough followers. It was rough and I honestly wondered if we could pull it together and make it work this week.
And then something beautiful happened.
I stepped back and realized that despite not knowing the majority of the students on my team, that there was such beauty in that. Instead of yelling and demanding them to listen to me, I could show them why they should. I could show them why people call me Mama Peach and why I was truly on their side and genuinely believed in them.
There's something about screaming your head off in support of your team that just gets you fired up. Your energy level rises and with that comes your whole team's energy level.
We started today very rough and very divided. We ended today as one team with a common goal: to give our best in everything we do.
Unity is important and most areas of life because we weren't meant to do life alone. And because of that, we have to know how to work together for a common goal.
I encourage you to build a healthy community around you with people that care about you and want the same things in life and to find ways to achieve those things not only individually, but as a unit.
People need other people.
And people uniting for one cause is beautiful.
As always you can keep up with me over at ohhaiiitsbrandii.wordpress.com
