Christmas is my absolute favorite time of year. I love everything about it. Christmas music, lights, Starbucks seasonal drinks. I love all of it.
But for some people, it's a very stressful time of year for several reasons.
For some, you may have a strained relationship with your family. Others, maybe you're recovering from an eating disorder. Or maybe like me, you're facing your first holiday after losing a loved one.
We like to stay busy with a thousand things. Shopping, baking, you name it, we stay busy with it. We become so wrapped up in making sure everyone else is okay, that we oftentimes we neglect to take care of ourselves.
You are important. What you are going through is important. It is important because you are important.
Hear me when I say that there is absolutely nothing wrong with making sure others are taken care of this holiday season. But you are no good to anyone if you aren't taking care of yourself.
You are not selfish for putting your recovery or needs first. This world needs you. But it needs you to be a whole person.
So this Christmas, my hope for you is that you will be healthy. That you will be well. You matter very much. I pray that you would begin to own those words for yourself.
As always you can keep up with me over at ohhaiiitsbrandii.wordpress.com
Until next time,
