I want to talk to those of you who have been at this recovery business for awhile now. Those of you that have made the choice and are actively pursing recovery. It doesn't matter if you're two weeks in or two years in, the message is the same. The responsibility is the same. And it's really quite simple. Are you ready for it?
It is your responsibility, our responsibility, to sprinkle hope around us like we're TinkerBell.
Now hear me out. I'm not saying that you should fake a smile or provide false hope. That's not what people who are struggling need. They need honesty. They need your vulnerability. They need to see that it is possible to live a life in recovery.
It's not an easy road, for any of us. But for those who are still actively struggling and trying to figure out which way is up, they need to know that hope still exists. That it's still possible. That those of us who are walking this road aren't just robots. That we understand all too well what they are going through.
Maybe you didn't have a lot of hope sprinkled over you while you were trying to figure this whole thing out. Remember how hard it was? Of course you do. You have the power to help someone not feel so lost as they are trying to find their footing on this new road.
Hope is a beautiful thing for those of us that have been lucky enough to reclaim it. It never left us. It's never left them. Won't you help them rediscover the hope they once had? There's nothing better in this world than loving other people.
So sprinkle some hope today. My guess is that you'll find it to be the most rewarding thing you can do.
As always, you can keep up with me over at ohhaiiitsbrandii.wordpress.com
Until next time,
