Why is it that the past is something we always fight so hard to forget?
I mean, we go to great lengths to not face it sometimes.
I've found myself guilty of this many times. But the more I think about those moments, the more I wonder why I fought so hard to forget them.
Like some of you, there are some things in my past that I'm not proud of and that I wish in that moment had been different.
But every single one of those moments helped to shape me into the person I am today.
I've spent more time trying to pretend that those things didn't happen instead of owning them for what they were.
Fighting through those moments are never easy, but here's the good news: You don't have to stay there.
That moment has already come and gone. It can do no more.
It's important to remember that.
But it's equally important to remember that even those difficult moments have made you the incredible person that you are.
Maybe for some of you, you're fortunate enough to not have many difficult moments in your past. But it's important to not stay in those moments as well.
The past is just that, the past. It will never come again. Those moments have ended. You have a present and a future to look forward to.
I encourage you to be present where you're at. Own these moments. As one of my mentors would say, "Where ever you are, be all the way there."
I couldn't agree more.
As always, you can keep up with me over at ohhaiiitsbrandii.wordpress.com
