Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. But I know for a lot of people, holidays only serve to remind them of what they have lost, or better stated, who they have lost. I could easily join that club. But I choose not to.
While I have lost a lot of people near and dear to me over the years, I have so much to be thankful for. I have a family comprised of non blood relatives that are the most amazing people in my life. They have loved me through some tough days and have stayed and fought alongside me.
Instead of looking back at what I've lost, I'm choosing to look forward. God has blessed me more in the past six months than I can ever recall. The friendships I have made and have strengthened are life long and life changing.
I'm amazed that five months ago I tried to leave this all behind.
Hear me when I say this: you are worth every bit of fighting that people will do on your behalf. That's why they are there!
I know that the holidays are tough. I know they can hurt. But there is so much beauty in them. Simple is better. Smaller is better. Gather with the ones you love and who love you back. Laugh. Eat. Be merry.
You were made for this.
In this season of thanks, I'm thankful for all of you. The ones I know and the ones that I don't. We are all part of a bigger family and this is the time of year when we need each other most.
So pull up a chair and join me at the table. Holidays were meant to be shared. I love holidays and I love sharing them. So won't you join me?
I'll leave the light on for you.
As always you can keep up with me over at ohhaiiitsbrandii.wordpress. com
Until next time,
