Today is World Suicide Prevention Day.
Today marks a new day; a new beginning.
It is here and now change can begin to take place.
It is here and now you can declare that you won’t be counted out.
Your story matters and it isn’t over yet.
You’re not alone.
Your life matters!
I believe those words more than ever as I wrote them at midnight as we launched our World Suicide Prevention Day events. Every life is worthy, every voice should be heard. I hope that through Project Semicolon you all can believe those words too.
This day is not just another day to me.
This day represents life.
It represents unity.
Millions worldwide gather to honor this day and remember those we have lost. We gather to raise awareness so that another story is not ended to soon. Yesterday I remembered my father on the 11th anniversary of his suicide. I remembered who he was and what he taught me in life. Ultimately I was reminded of how important life is and how I was left to make sure my father’s story did not go untold.
No matter what you are going through in life know you are loved.
Know that there is a bigger purpose.
There is a purpose for the pain.
Ultimately remember to love endlessly.
This world needs you.
Don’t be counted out.
You are loved!
