I've been on this journey of recovery for almost two years now. And in these past two years, there have been a lot of ups and a lot of downs. I used to focus so much on the downs. That it meant all my hard work had been for nothing. Then I heard a phrase that changed everything for me.
Never despise the day of small beginnings.
I began to evaluate what that meant for me in terms of recovery. And that's the moment when I started to celebrate the small victories along the way.
So if you are reading this and you find yourself further along this road, then know how incredibly proud I am of you. Seriously. I know how hard it is. This thing can kick your butt. But here you are. Still here and still fighting it.
If you're reading this and you find yourself in the early stages of recovery, I'm just as proud of you. We all have to start somewhere. You can't get to 30 days without accomplishing one day. You can't accomplish 90 days without reaching day 30. And you can't reach a year and beyond without any of the in between moments.
Whether this is day three or three years, I am proud of you. And you should be proud of yourself too.
This journey is long. And it will be bumpy at times. But the good news is that you don't walk it alone. We are here. We see you. We are with you.
You can do this.
Celebrate the big. Have a party.
But don't forget to celebrate the small along the way.
Because without the small, you would have never made it to the big.
Keep celebrating my friends.
As always you can keep up with me over at ohhaiiitsbrandii.wordpress.com
Until next time,
